Right now I am in the Caribbean taping TV shows on self-development in an effort to inspire people to become the best version of themselves.
As I write to you I am acutely aware that you are very busy and have many things vying for your time.
I regard this occasion as such a privilege that I always leave you with a practical skill that you can put to use right away.
One of my assistants told me that her lawyer ( very famous) who was very young and healthy committed suicide in the wake of deep romantic pain.
Her husband did not want her anymore. He was deceitful and she felt so rejected that she allowed herself to fall into a deep depression, which lead to her subsequent demise.
She died from a broken heart.
What I want to impress upon you today is something that I learnt from Disreali, a past prime minister of Britain.
He said that no amount of success in your public or professional life can make up for failure in your personal life.
And yet when things are going well at work, we pursue our goals with such diligence and passion, and neglect our loved ones often at the expense of our main relationship.
We make excuses for not spending time.
We take our partner for granted. We fail to treat them as special.
We allow the pretty flames of love to flicker to a point that is beyond reviving.
My little message today is offered with great respect.
Your relationships are the crown jewels of your life.
No matter how passionate they are in the beginning they will deteriorate.
Your beautiful marriage is destined to end in a painful divorce even if it is unthinkable right now.
That loving voice that puts a smile on your face will soon do nothing but irritating.
You love life is head for the rocks…..
Unless you deliberately and consciously take action on a consistent basis to keep the fires burning.
So don’t let the size of your project prevent you from picking up the phone and saying I love you.
Don’t rely on emails as the carrier of your love.
Leave your desk and run over to see her or him and speak your love face to face.
Take a day off for a picnic even at the expense of your wallet.
It is so easy to fool yourself in the moment into thinking that others things are more important.
It is so easy to think that you will change your ways and become more loving when the website is done or when you hit 1000 customers, but please don’t wait.
Express your love now. And surprise, surprise! By taking a break from your work to say I love you, you will be adding layers to your success at work
Call now. Take a break.
Write hand old fashion hand written note.
Send a card for no reason at all.
Surprise him or her by sending a taxi to pick them up for a lunch date.
Do something real special. Act as if your life depended on it because it does. Act now.
The best time to fix the roof is when the sun is shining.
Respect,
Ken
