In order to have stress, you need stressors; and unfortunately there is an abundance of these around. Most stressors come on two feet and they talk back at you. But what ever the nature of the stressors or irritations that you are facing right now, know that you do usually have some control.
You may not have a lot of control but don’t give up the little control that you may be able to exert. If you find the traffic stressful my may be able to control the stressor by convincing your boss to allow you to work from how.
If you don’t like working in the winter, like one of my patients, you may persuade your boss to let you work from the Caribbean or Hawaii.
My patient who works from the Caribbean in winter happens to be his own boss. What I am saying is to look each stressor in the eye and ask, ” do I have any control over this event or situation?” and if you can change the stressor.
